James Gunn Defends Superman Cast Says they Aren't Just Cameos
A lot has been said about how big the group is for Superman: Legacy. With so many superheroes set to show up, it might feel more like a Justice League movie than Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice did in 2016 all over again.
After directing movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, James Gunn is used to working with big group casts. But surely a Superman movie should only be about the Man of Tomorrow? Fans are worried that this reboot will be too crowded with characters like Lex Luthor and maybe even Brainiac.
Recently, the co-CEO of DC Studios reacted to some of these worries on social media. For example, when a fan on Threads said that previous Superman movies only had Kal-El as the main character, Gunn said, "We aren't those movies." "We are us." He then said, "None of [the superhero] roles are cameos," which made it clear that he isn't done putting this cast together yet. "What single-protagonist movie doesn’t have more than ten speaking roles?" Gunn inquired. "There will be more."
