DC's James Gunn slams "Cameo Porn" in Superhero Movies
The first film under James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe, Superman: Legacy, is currently in the works. The film, written and directed by Gunn, has assembled a quite surprising ensemble cast, and many are anxious to see how they fit into the story. In a recent post on the social media platform Threads, Gunn assured fans that Legacy will not fall into one of the most common tropes of recent superhero films: a slew of appearances that serve no purpose in the films' plots.
According to Gunn, there must be a narrative reason for characters to share the screen together, or else it becomes "cameo porn." This comes after some fans were concerned that Legacy may fall victim to this pattern due to the presence of several other established heroes in the ensemble.
