TOMB RAIDER TV Series Starring Sophie Turner Is Dead At Amazon After6 Years of Development
Game of Thrones and Dark Phoenix star Sophie Turner was cast as Lara Croft in Prime Video's Tomb Raider reboot last November. Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny) was announced as the show's writer months earlier, and Amazon saw it as a priority. As a new James Bond film is planned, it may not happen.
Mail Online (via GameFragger.com) reports that Tomb Raider will not be shot "in early 2025". Waller-Bridge's scripts are taking longer than expected, and inside sources say the show is "dead."
Turner may be working on other projects, so "I hear that it is not going ahead." Former Amazon Studios boss Jennifer Salke approved this Tomb Raider project. She negotiated a $100 million first look deal with the actress and writer that yielded only Fleabag for Prime Video.
Many video game fans weren't excited about Turner playing Lara; she'd received rave reviews for ITV's Joan, but Tomb Raider would have been her first major Hollywood role.
