SHANG-CHI Star Addresses SPIDER-MAN 4 Future

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings grossed $432.2 million in 2021 despite moviegoers' reluctance. After three years, Shang-Chi has yet to appear. We expected Marvel Studios to announce Shang-Chi and the Wreckage of Time and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty at 2022's San Diego Comic-Con, and the character was rumored to star in them.

Plans changed and Shang-Chi's Ten Rings may no longer be related to Kang. In comics, they're from Kakaranthara, Fin Fang Foom's hometown, so that's an easy "retcon". Since director Destin Daniel Cretton has moved on to Spider-Man 4, the sequel appears to be stalled. That's coming out in 2026, so Shang-Chi 2 won't be out before 2028 or 2029 if the director still wants to direct.

Simu Liu was asked on The Tonight Show if he could reprise Spider-Man 4.
