Marvel is in talks to bring back Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man

According to a recent Variety article examining Marvel Studios' recent behind-the-scenes issues, the company has thought about casting Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, or Tony Stark, in a future Avengers film. The report states that there have been discussions to bring back the original MCU Avengers cast, which included the late Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and actor Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. However, it is evident that the studio has not yet committed to the project.

Resurrecting the Armored Avenger, though, might prove expensive given that Downey Jr. reportedly received a whopping $25 million for his final solo film, Iron Man 3.

For the MCU veteran, that was a far more reasonable price tag at a time when the newest films were consistently bringing in billions of dollars at the box office. However, a salary like that might be riskier given that the franchise hasn't achieved that milestone with a non-Spider-Man film since Avengers: Endgame.
