SPIDER-MAN 4 a "Big Actor" Has Offer To Play Movie's Villain
Based on a recent rumor that Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures are looking for villains and new love interests for Tom Holland's Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4, we may soon learn who will play the main antagonist in the next solo Spidey film.
Daniel Richtman says a "big actor" has been offered the role of Spider-Man 4's main villain. A previous rumor suggests that the movie will introduce a Spider-Man baddie we haven't seen in live-action, which could narrow down the actor and character.
Deadline reports that Zendaya will film Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Messiah before Spider-Man 4, which may not release on July 24, 2026. However, Zendaya's MJ is expected to play a minor role in the film.
We've heard that Feige and Sony Pictures' Tom Rothman settled on a mostly grounded story with some Multiversal elements after disagreements, though the movie was still being called a "Avengers-level event" until recently. Holland discussed the fourth solo Spidey film in a recent interview.
"We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing."
It sounds like they've considered many options for "the right thing" but are still deciding. Spider-Man 4 will pit Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield's wall-crawlers against Mephisto, Vulture, Knull, and an army of Symbiotes with Venom, Ghost Rider, Black Cat, Daredevil, and The Punisher, according to all rumors.
The project is on track to begin filming, suggesting any issues have been resolved.
