DC Studios SGT. ROCK Film Loses Daniel Craig
Daniel Craig (Knives Out; No Time to Die; Logan Lucky) has left DC Studios' upcoming Sgt. Rock film, which Academy Award-nominee Luca Guadagnino (Challengers; Call Me by Your Name; Bones and All) will direct and was supposed to begin production at the end of the year.
Nexus Point News broke the story, which all three major trades confirmed.
His reason for leaving the project is unclear. The Hollywood Reporter reports that some sources say there were scheduling conflicts with the film's expected Fall shooting dates, while others say Craig was disappointed with Queer's box office performance and lack of awards recognition, causing him to reconsider his upcoming film choices.
Variety claims that Craig never committed to starring in the film and that there was never a formal deal, so he may have been on DC's wish list or just an offer. However, Craig has declined, and the role is back up for grabs, though the studio may have found a replacement.
