Although critics liked The Acolyte (78% on Rotten Tomatoes), Star Wars fans were split, which affected its popularity.

Due to fan excitement for the brand, The Acolyte streamed on June 4 with two episodes and garnered 4.8 million views in its first day on Disney+, making it the biggest series premiere on the streaming platform this year. After five days of streaming, it had 11.1 million views worldwide. The series debuted on Nielsen's Top 10 originals list at #7 (488 million minutes viewed) in its launch week and rose to #6 the following week, supporting Disney's figures.
