The Russo Brothers To Direct AVENGERS 5 & AVENGERS SECRET WARS

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, are in early talks to direct the as-yet-untitled Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars. This is shocking news from Marvel Studios.

If the studio and the Russos reach an agreement, a protracted hunt for a director will come to an end. Sam Raimi, Shawn Levy, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Chang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are just a few of the directors that were in the running for what could be the hottest directing role in Hollywood. A contract is probably still being negotiated.



Destin Daniel Cretton was first brought on to helm Avengers 5 (then known as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty), following a resounding reception to Shang-Chi. However, he left the project a month before star Jonathan Majors was found guilty of assault. Director of Deadpool & Wolverine Shawn Levy was recently offered the role as well, with early buzz for his upcoming MCU debut trending in a positive direction. However, based on this latest development, it appears that Levy passed.
