The Rock & His Production Company Join Disney
Dwayne Johnson left DC for Disney after trying to overhaul the DC universe's power structure as Black Adam.
Johnson and Dany Garcia's Seven Bucks Productions has struck a first-look contract with The Walt Disney Company to develop theatrical and streaming films, Variety reports. Johnson may star in the projects, which are not confined to cinema. Most intriguingly, the multi-year pact will allow Seven Bucks to work across Disney departments.
Marvel Studios, Star Wars/Lucasfilm, Disney Animation, Pixar, and 20th Century Studios are included.
Johnson has starred in Disney films like Jungle Cruise and Moana (he'll reprise his role as Maui in this year's sequel and 2026's live-action version), but this arrangement might bring him into the MCU. Johnson was reportedly considered to play X-Men villain Apocalypse. Although we didn't believe it at the time, this announcement may support the report.
