Robert Downey Jr. Confirms Iron Man MCU Return if Marvel Studios wants It

When Robert Downey Jr. debuted as Tony Stark in 2008's Iron Man, he gave the superhero a new look that helped him rise from the B-List and became the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The actor said goodbye to the part in 2019's Avengers: Endgame and has since turned his attention to more somber roles, such as one in Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, for which Downey received an Oscar for "Best Supporting Actor".

The Academy Award winner is rumored to make a comeback in Avengers: Secret Wars as a malevolent Iron Man Variant, and Downey now says to Esquire that he hasn't ruled out portraying Tony in the future.

"Happily. It’s too integral a part of my DNA, "That role chose me. And look, I always say, Never, ever bet against Kevin Feige. It is a losing bet. He’s the house. He will always win."
