TMNT The Last Ronin Live Action Film Announced

With the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, the animated smash movie from the previous year, Paramount Pictures is continuing the turtle power with a brand-new feature project in development.

This one, however, will venture into gritty, R-rated area rather than the all-ages content for which the beloved series is renowned. With an R-rating in mind, Paramount is working on a live-action adaptation of the famous narrative from the most recent IDW comics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.

The script is being written by Tyler Burton Smith, who also co-wrote the 2019 adaptation of the Chucky horror franchise, Child's Play, and the forthcoming R-rated action film Boy Kills World.


Walter Hamada's multi-year agreement with the studio includes production through his company, 18hz Productions. Hamada, who ascended through the ranks at New Line to oversee the Warner Bros. division's horror films, including the It and Conjuring franchises, was the former head of DC Films. His 18-hour banner is geared toward producing horror-themed content.
