James Gunn Confirms J.J. Abrams' SUPERMAN Reboot is Still Happening
Warner Bros. and Henry Cavill couldn't agree on a deal for Superman's appearance in Shazam!, which meant that the British actor would no longer play the Man of Steel.
The DCEU went on without him until Black Adam came along. A action double without a head was used in his place. He was brought back into the fold thanks to Dwayne Johnson's help, and he even got to film an appearance for The Flash. And when DC Studios was made, that was thrown out, and the Justice League star was fired all over again. From the beginning, the untitled project was supposed to take place in a different world. The story was said to be set in the past and look at what a Black Superman would do in America during the height of the civil rights movement.
When asked by fans on Threads, James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios and director of Superman: Legacy, stated that "yes," the movie is still being made.
He didn't say more about what he said, but this fits with what he said last year. "[Superman: Legacy and Abrams' Superman movie] are totally unrelated," he said. "That movie looks great. "I know that Chantal Nong, who is in charge of that project, is very excited about it."
