Daredevil Showrunner Calls MCU Reboot a Scam
Steven DeKnight, the showrunner for Daredevil on Netflix, has stated that Daredevil: Born Again is nothing more than "an old Disney scam." A fan pointed out a trend of Disney "rebooting" old shows, and the showrunner responded to their post on Twitter by acknowledging the fan's post. When a show reaches its third season, employees in the IATSE ranks and elsewhere are entitled to a mandated pay raise as well as an increase in their vacation pay. Users of social media platforms have uncovered the fact that shows produced by Disney and other studios are frequently rebooted or canceled before reaching their third season. Critics argue online that this is basically used by companies as a way to get away with not paying workers that increased rate and to avoid those other benefits. They say this is because the internet allows them to do so anonymously. After reading the post, DeKnight acknowledged the accusation by nodding his head and arguing that the ongoing negotiations ought to completely remove those provisions from the agreement.
According to a tweet posted by DeKnight, "It is true. Changing the title of a show ever-so-slightly in order to trick Disney into thinking they are still in the first season of their contract is an old con. This issue needs to be addressed by all of the guilds and unions, and it must be eradicated!"
