The Flash makes Even less on Opening Weekend
This weekend sees the release of The Flash in theaters, but early indications are that the DC movie won't live up to the hype in its first weekend of release. The Flash, which was anticipated to earn $70-75 million in its debut, will instead bring in $55 million (an estimated $64 million with the four-day Juneteenth holiday), after bringing in $24.5 million at the box office on its first day of release (including its Thursday night previews) the film can officially be classified as a Box Office bomb.
In addition to The Flash, there were two additional major motion pictures that had wide distribution this past weekend. Elemental, a film produced by Pixar, came in second place with a domestic gross of $29.5 million and is expected to make $45 million internationally. The movie has been met with a mixture of positive and negative reviews, and it also has to compete with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which is still playing in theaters.
