Insomniac Games Leak Confirms X-Men Games, Venom & More

Insomniac Games Leak Confirms X-Men Games, Venom & More

According to internal papers that were leaked, Marvel and Insomniac Games will continue to work together for at least another ten years. The Spider-Man developer will work on an X-Men game set to come out in 2030. The leak happened as part of an attack using ransomware on the company owned by Sony.

It is said that Insomniac is planning to release a separate Wolverine game in 2026, but the company seems to have bigger plans for Marvel's mutants. An internal roadmap from July of this year was leaked and says that the studio's upcoming licensing superhero games will be Marvel's Venom (2025), Marvel's Wolverine (2026), Marvel's Spider-Man 3 (2028), and Marvel's X-Men (2030).

Those release dates and plans could change, especially after the big data breach at the company. However, those games, especially Marvel's X-Men, might come out around the time of the next-generation PlayStation (PS6). It also makes sense with Marvel Studios' plans to finally bring the X-Men to the big screen, sometime after Avengers: Secret Wars comes out in 2027, which is when Disney has set the movie's release date.

Other information that got out as part of the hack shows that Insomniac is putting most of its staff on Venom and Wolverine and won't start working on the X-Men in earnest until mid-2025. There was what looked like a separate, out-of-date plan for Insomniac Games that showed several X-Men games coming out until 2033.
