Actors Strike Is Over! SAG-AFTRA & Studios Reach Deal
After 118 days on strike, SAG-AFTRA and the studios have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract that may have Hollywood back up and running within weeks.
According to reports, the strike will end at 12:01 a.m. PT on November 9. The actors guild's 17-member bargaining committee unanimously agreed this afternoon to approve a tentative agreement to the SAG-AFTRA board, capping off a dramatic day of studio earnings data and deadlines. Specifics of the agreement are expected to be revealed when it is presented to the board in the next day or so.
SAG-AFTRA's agreement comes less than a month after Writers Guild members unanimously approved their own agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. It is the result of the latest round of restarted discussions, which began on October 24. Netflix's Ted Sarandos, Disney's Bob Iger, NBCUniversal's Donna Langley, and Warner Bros Discovery's David Zaslav frequently personally participated in the conversations, indicating the intensity and stakes of the negotiations.
