Aquaman 2 is Dead on Arrival with first Box Office Report
Box Office Pro has released its long-term estimate for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and it doesn't appear that James Wan's DC Comics sequel will make much of an impression when it hits theaters next month. Aquaman 2 is expected to have a $32 million - $42 million domestic opening weekend, according to early projections. This would be less than The Marvels' opening weekend ($47 million), which certainly does not speak well for the film's theatrical run.
The first Aquaman was a surprise blockbuster, grossing over $1 billion worldwide - but the same can be said about Captain Marvel, and we're sure you don't need us to tell you how its sequel is now performing at the box office. The sequel to Aquaman will be the penultimate film in the "DCEU" era before the franchise is relaunched. Jason Momoa will most certainly retire as Aquaman, but he is in talks to play an entirely different character in James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Universe, Lobo.
