Dave Filoni Promoted to Chief Creative Officer To Oversee All Future Star Wars
Lucasfilm's leadership is undergoing minor structural adjustments. Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm's previous head of animation who was promoted to Executive Creative Director a few years ago, has disclosed to Vanity Fair that he will take over as Chief Creative Officer.
Filoni was previously brought on board projects after they were already in progress, such as the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, on which he and Jon Favreau consulted. He will now be present from the start. He told the newspaper:
“In this new role, it’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on. When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.
“I’m not telling people what to do. But I do feel I’m trying to help them tell the best story that they want to tell. I need to be a help across the galaxy here, like a part of a Jedi Council almost.”
