Marvel studios PUNISHER Special Presentation Details Revealed

Marvel's Brad Winderbaum confirmed last night that Frank Castle will return for his own Disney+ Punisher Special Presentation after debuting in Daredevil: Born Again. EW has more details.

Star Bernthal and We Own This City director Reinaldo Marcus Green will co-write and direct the Special. "It's like a shotgun blast of a story, but also has all the pathos and emotion that you want out of a Frank Castle story," Winderbaum says. "It's so exciting."

Winderbaum says the idea for a Punisher standalone story came during production on Born Again, which will feature Matt Murdock enlisting his ultra-violent former ally for a mission Daredevil is "unwilling to do" (what this dirty deed is remains to be seen).

"Bernthal is a generational actor," Winderbaum says. "He's amazing in all his roles, especially Frank Castle. And he writes well. Knowing the character inside and out.... I love Punisher, especially Jon's. His presence in the MCU and ability to bring that to the universe, especially street-level stuff, is a huge opportunity and the greatest thing ever for a fan."
