Coming into its second week in theaters, Captain America: Brave New World is, as expected, losing steam at the box office. The newest film from Marvel Studios had a strong opening weekend over the prolonged Presidents Day holiday, but its second weekend took in only $28.3 million from 4,105 theaters in North America, a 68% drop. This isn't as terrible as critics had feared, and it's definitely not the biggest decline from recent MCU content.

There isn't much competition for Brave New World at the moment, but next month Disney's Snow White will bring some much-needed excitement. Production costs were estimated at $180 million, but this is before marketing expenses were included. After extensive reshoots, some believe the actual budget would be closer to $300 million. The film has earned $289.4 million worldwide so far on this budget.

Regardless of the veracity of this, the film might still end up losing money at the box office, which would be a letdown following the enormous success of Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld is one of many who thinks Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige should step down and let someone else take the helm.
