Sam Raimi In Talks to direct Marvel Studios Spider-Man 4

Is it possible for the director of the first three Spider-Man films to helm Spider-Man: No Way Home 2?

Although Spider-Man 4 (i.e., Tom Holland's fourth solo film portraying the wall-crawler) has not yet received an official announcement from Sony/Marvel, we do know that the project is in development and that more directors may be considered to succeed Jon Watts.


Sam Raimi (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) is reportedly in the running to helm the upcoming Spider-Man film. John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein (Game Night, Dungeons & Dragons), and Jon Favreau (Iron Man) are also rumored to be contenders.

If there is any truth to this and Raimi decides to return as director of a Spider-Man 3 film starring Tobey Maguire, it will be interesting to see how the announcement is received as some fans had hoped he would return to helm the film.

Both Drew Goddard (Cabin in the Woods) and Justin Lin (director of five Fast and Furious films and Star Trek Beyond) were previously mentioned as potential candidates, but they have since joined other projects.
