Rotten Tomatoes Exposed for GOOD Paid Reviews
It has come to light that a public relations company hacked and manipulated the popular website Rotten Tomatoes, which compiles user reviews of movies.
The company Bunker 15 compensated film critics with at least $50 for each positive review they wrote about the 2018 film Ophelia.
The company commissioned reviews written by less well-known critics who they recruited.
Rotten Tomatoes discovered the manipulation and deleted the reviews that appeared to be fraudulent. Additionally, a stern warning was delivered to the reviewers who were involved.
The website Rotten Tomatoes is manipulated by movie studios and public relations firms using shady tactics such as paying for positive reviews, according to a report that was published in New York Magazine.
