Disney Fires Chairman of Marvel Entertainment
The controversial firings being carried out by Disney have now affected the chairman of Marvel Entertainment. The New York Times is reporting that Isaac Perlmutter has been let go from his position at Disney, and the company has confirmed the move. It was reportedly during a phone call that he was informed that he would be laid off, and the news also included the information that Marvel Entertainment would be rolled into Disney's larger business units. The most recent round of layoffs at Disney was initiated earlier this week by CEO Bob Iger, and it is estimated that approximately 7,000 jobs will be eliminated worldwide. This represents approximately 4% of the company's total workforce. The company has decided to reduce its workforce in order to save some of the $5.5 billion that is required to improve its financial numbers.
