Black Adam 2 Unlikely to Happen under DC Studios
Dwayne Johnson's relentless pursuit of bringing Black Adam to the big screen may not be enough to bring the DC character back for a sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first film's numbers do not add up to a second. According to various sources, the film only made $385 million worldwide on a budget of between $190 million and $230 million before marketing. A mainstream Hollywood production is thought to need to earn three times its budget before turning a profit. Using this rule, Black Adam will be lucky to break even, even when ancillary revenue from home viewing and merchandising is factored in. Even if the film makes a small profit, experts believe there is little chance of a sequel, as sequels typically have higher production costs than their predecessors.
