The latest photos from James Gunn's Cleveland set of Superman were the most intriguing yet, as they appeared to confirm that David Corenswet's Superman would face a physical threat in the DCU reboot.

Earlier this year, rumors circulated that Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) would use Supes' DNA to create a perfect clone of his nemesis. Reports said this villain would be Ultraman, but these photos don't confirm this.
This mysterious masked man may be Ulysses, aka "The Last Son of Earth."

In comics, Neil Quinn was the son of two Prime Earth scientists at Ulysses Research Center. After dark matter entered their lab, the couple sent their son through a portal into the fourth dimension, where he gained superhuman powers.

Quinn rarely wears a mask, but as shown in the panels below, his armor resembles the character in the photos.
