Kick-Ass Reboot is Done shooting, Sequels Currently in Production

Director Matthew Vaughn gave a huge update on the planned reboot of Kick-Ass and said that plans are already in motion for a trilogy. Vaughn directed Kick-Ass (2010), a movie based on a comic book series with the same name. A follow-up movie came out in 2013, but the director announced in 2023 that the series would be restarted, with filming set to begin in 2024.

But in an interview with Collider, Vaughn said that the new Kick-Ass movie will be a series, and that the first movie has already been shot. The director said that the plot for the third movie, called Kick-Ass, is about halfway done. However, School Fight and Vram will come out first. Read what Vaughn said below:

We’re halfway through [the script]. There’s a very, very dare I say it... and it’s gonna be a cliche coming out of this head of mine. It is a very, very meta universe. It is what, you know, 'Kick Ass' was reinventing and creating a R-rated superhero and no one was really doing it. This is taking that whole concept to a worthy…not even a sequel, because I think it’s just a whole new way of doing 'Kick Ass,' which couldn’t be more 'Kick Ass.'

The trilogy will be School Fight, this movie, let's call it Vram for the time being, and then Kick-Ass, and they're all connected.

So, when this (VRAM) is finished, I think this will launch, I'll be conservative on this, if we're lucky, Toronto, if we're not lucky, Sundance. Well, this year, next year, if you know what I mean.
