The Flash Insane New Budget Reveal

We just found out that The Flash's final worldwide box office total was $268 million, making it one of the biggest failures in the history of superhero movies. However, a recent report suggests that the Scarlet Speedster's solo debut resulted in even greater financial losses for the studio than the initial estimates had anticipated.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actual budget for "The Flash" was closer to $300 million (presumably before the cost of marketing, although they don't clarify). If this information is correct, the film directed by Andy Muschietti would tie with Justice League (2017) as the most expensive film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), and it would obviously be an even bigger failure than we had been led to believe it would be.

The reasons for The Flash's poor performance at the BO have been debated endlessly online; however, taking into account Blue Beetle's disappointing debut, the primary issue may very well lie with the DC brand rather than with any specific movie.
