WB will Sell HALF of ALL ASSETS including Batman & More
Three sources have confirmed to Variety that Warner Bros. Discovery is in the process of negotiating a sale of approximately half of the legendary Warner studio's film and TV & music-publishing assets for approximately $500 million. Hits was the first publication to report the news.
It is not entirely clear which assets are up for grabs; however, according to one source, the rights to "slightly less than half" of the catalog are likely to be sold to a major label for somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 million. Sony is rumored to be in the driver's seat regarding this transaction. It is believed that the catalog contains music from films such as "Purple Rain," "Evita," "Sweeney Todd," "Rent," several "Batman" films, and many more titles.
