WB Preventing James Gunn from Having Total Control of the DCU
It appears that James Gunn and Peter Safran do not have as much control over the new DC Universe as some fans may have believed. Variety reports that there is still uncertainty regarding the level of control Gunn and Safran have over the superhero franchise, particularly with regard to streaming content on the WB-owned Max streaming service.
WB and Max continue to be "creatively involved with the DC slate" in contrast to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
While Gunn and Safran's tenure at DC Studios has reportedly been much more collaborative on the TV front, Feige's leadership of the Marvel Studios brand continues to be largely autonomous. This is not necessarily a bad thing, though, as Variety reported that sources knowledgeable about the matter have described the collaboration between Max executives Sarah Aubrey and Casey Bloys and the co-CEOs of DC Studios as "seamless."
